I like your twisted point of view, Mike
I like your questioning eyebrows
You've made it pretty clear what you like
It's only fair to tell you now
that I leave early in the morning
and I won't be back till next year
I see that kiss-me pucker forming
but maybe you should plug it with a beer, 'cause

Papa was a rodeo
Mama was a rock'n'roll band
I could play guitar and rope a steer
before I learned to stand
Home was anywhere with diesel gas
Love was a trucker's hand
Never stuck around long enough
for a one-night stand
Before you kiss me you should know
Papa was a rodeo

The light reflecting off the mirror ball
looks like a thousand swirling eyes
They make me think I shouldn't be here at all
You know, every minute someone dies
What are we doing in this dive bar?
How can you live in a place like this?
Why don't you just get into my car
And I'll take you away
I'll take that kiss now, but

Papa was a rodeo
Mama was a rock'n'roll band
I could play guitar and rope a steer
before I learned to stand
Home was anywhere with diesel gas
Love was a trucker's hand
Never stuck around long enough
for a one-night stand
Before you kiss me you should know
Papa was a rodeo

And now it's 55 years later
We've had the romance of the century
After all these years wrestling gators
I still feel like crying
When I think of what you said to me:

"Papa was a rodeo
Mama was a rock'n'roll band
I could play guitar and rope a steer
before I learned to stand
Home was anywhere with diesel gas
Love was a trucker's hand
Never stuck around long enough
for a one-night stand
Before you kiss me you should know
Papa was a rodeo,"

What a coincidence
Your papa was a rodeo, too

LA GENT NORMAL (MANEL)
S’havia estat cultivant per Grècia,
i havia après que és tant important viatjar.
I jo me l’escoltava i deia: si, si, està clar.
Son pare acumulava grans riqueses, i vaig dir:
caram, en aquest cas, si us plau, anul•li la cervesa
i posi’ns el vi car. Li va semblar genial.
Va fer un glopet, em va mirar i va dir:
vull viure com viuen els altres,
vull fer les coses que fa la gent normal,
dormir amb qui dormen els altres,
ficar-me al llit amb gent normal com tu.
I assumint aquell paper, vaig dir:
bé, veurem què s’hi pot fer.
Vaig passejar-la pel mercat del barri.
Em va semblar un escenari adequat, per començar.
Vaig dir: d’acord, ara fes veure que no tens ni un duro.
I va riure, i va dir: ai quina gràcia,
que boig estàs, ets molt divertit!
Doncs, francament, maca, no em sembla
que ningú estigui rient aquí.
Ja t’ho has pensat bé això de…
en riure i beure i anar tirant,
i si pots, ja saps, follar de tant en tant.
Prova a cantar, si ho fan els altres,
i canta fort, si et sembla interessant,
riu a pulmó, si ho fan els altres,

COMMON PEOPLE (PULP)
She came from Greece she had a thirst for knowledge
She studied sculpture at Saint Martin's College, that's where I caught her eye.
She told me that her Dad was loaded
I said in that case I'll have a rum and coke-cola.
She said fine and in thirty seconds time she said, I want to live like common people
I want to do whatever common people do, I want to sleep with common people
I want to sleep with common people like you.
Well what else could I do - I said I'll see what I can do.
I took her to a supermarket
I don't know why but I had to start it somewhere, so it started there.
I said pretend you've got no money, she just laughed and said oh you're so funny.
I said yeah? Well I can't see anyone else smiling in here.
Are you sure you want to live like common people
You want to see whatever common people see
You want to sleep with common people,
you want to sleep with common people like me.
But she didn't understand, she just smiled and held my hand.
Rent a flat above a shop, cut your hair and get a job.
Smoke some fags and play some pool, pretend you never went to school.
But still you'll never get it right
'cos when you're laid in bed at night watching roaches climb the wall
If you call your Dad he could stop it all.
You'll never live like common people
You'll never do what common people do
You'll never fail like common people
You'll never watch your life slide out of view, and dance and drink and screw
Because there's nothing else to do.
Sing along with the common people, sing along and it might just get you thru'
Laugh along with the common people
Laugh along even though they're laughing at you and the stupid things that you do.
Because you think that poor is cool.
I want to live with common people, I want to live with common people [etc..]
